L'hotel pop up shop in Ebisu, Tokyo.

I just got these photos from our Japanese distributors - hansel was sold at L'hotel's pop up shop in early Dec 09.

L'hotel is one of hansel's online stockists in Japan and has a really cool website!

Pool villa at Anantara Phuket.

The strategically-lit entrance to my pool villa at Anantara Phuket Resort & Spa has the exclusive feel of a private residence.
Inside the villa: the glassy private swimming pool reflects the dramatic Thai-craft-inspired metal wall-art medallions.
The walk-in wardrobe looks like a boutique interior, especially with my colour-coordinated holiday wardrobe hung neatly on the rack!

The Tree House at Anantara Phuket.

As you might have guessed from the recent blogging silence and photos of Phuket airport, I took my Xmas break in Phuket, Thailand.

At the Anantara Phuket Resort & Spa, "The Tree House" tapas bar captured my imagination with its magical entrance: a grand wooden staircase wrapped around a Banyan tree lit with floating lampshades. The iridescent jellyfishy fiber optic lights in the bar were captivating too but no, not like its Faraway Tree style entrance.

My dream home is a tree house set by the sea - "The Tree House" gave me a taste of my anti-HDB retirement years.

More photos to come. :-)

Exciting things spotted at Phuket airport.

Groovy retro-style colour co-ordinated uniforms at the duty free shop.
Miss M&Ms with pink cateye glasses complete with "rhinestones" at the tips!

PSA port tour 2.

Moss green gentle giants in the mist (berth cranes that lift containers on and off ships), tangerine dream on wheels (container laden truck alongside the tour bus) and at the port gantry, literally working inside a container for a company that deals with containers!

PSA port tour 1.

One of THE most interesting and unusual things I have done recently, was to join a tour of Singapore's PSA port, organised exclusively for the family and friends of PSA staff. I have driven past the port many times, staring in awe at all the over-sized Lego bricks stacked neatly in lines and the mysteriously to-ing and fro-ing of container laden trucks.

More snapshots to come, but these ones below show the control room of the PSA port where each staff sit in the comfort of an air-conditioned room with large screens and an ergonomically designed computer-game-like dashboard, moving heavy containers around with the use of cameras, buttons and a joy sitck. WOW!

It would be SO EXTRA COOL if the staff walked around in stiff white lab coats and wore thick black glasses with neat side partings, saying things like,"CONTAINER MOVEMENT MISSION COMPLETE." while machines whirred in the background and exuded a faint chorus of "beep beep beep beep beep!"

Beautiful.

I went to The hansel Shop today for a photoshoot for Hong Kong's Weekend Weekly newspaper, strung Christmas lights around Robot Girl's neck and went across the street to take a look.

With the warm pinkish evening light bouncing off the beige facade, the 105-year old Stamford House looked absolutely breathtaking and I felt really pleased that hansel has a home there.

Robot Girl looks kinda pleased herself with her new necklace! :-)

3D map.

I was absolutely fascinated with this soft plastic 3D map during a dinner in a log cabin out in the forests, on Lake Yamanakako near Mount Fuji in Japan (my friend pointed out exactly where we were on the map).

I imagined stepping out of that log cabin into a surrounding environment that looked exactly like the map - with large names, markings, measurements all printed on the ground - this way I won't ever get lost! Except, maybe I would have needed a Japanese dictionary, because I can't read Japanese.

Singaporean ghetto style.

When I took the train home, I would see young kids in full baggy hip hop gear with one pant leg up on a knee and one pant leg down, walking with that gangsta limp, get off at stations like Pasir Ris, and I would think, "Hmmm... I didn't realize that Pasir Ris was that rough a neighbourhood..."

So I came up with the design below and hand-stitched it onto a t-shirt. Yes I used to live in Kembangan.

And in case you aren't aware, that is the code number of the Kembangan MRT station.

Hermes P.S. I Silk You

This cool portrait of me was shot by photographer Justin Jonah Ng. It was shot for the Hermes P.S. I Silk You project and will appear in ELLE Singapore soon!

Spearheaded by Madeleine Ho from Hermes, Singaporean personalities get their portraits specially photographed for the project, which then get printed on postcards. These postcards are sold in sets of 10 and sold at $50 per set, with proceeds benefiting Beautiful People.

Beautiful People is a volunteer platform that connects professionals and the skilled with teenage girls from various voluntary welfare organisations, to positively impact lives through mentoring, life-skills, development, work exposure and friendship.

From 30 Oct – 15 Nov 09, there will be an exhibition of these postcards as well as a studio set up in front of Wisma Atria and Ngee Ann City on Orchard Road. At the studio, you can have fun experimenting with ways to wear the iconic Herm├Ęs silk scarf. Stylists and photographers will be on hand to produce your very own set of postcards. The fee for this fun goes to assist Beautiful People in their work!

I have also included some behind-the-scenes snapshots of the photoshoot (I LOVED the Hermes heels!) and the super successful launch party held at House in Dempsey!

Juliette Has A Gun perfume launch party at Black Market.

The grandson of fashion legend Nina Ricci, Romano Ricci, was in town to launch his perfume range called Juliette Has A Gun. There are 3 scents: Miss Charming (my personal favourite), Lady Vengeance and their signature scent, Citizen Queen.

I was chosen to be one of his three Brand Ambassadors for Singapore. Juliette Has A Gun is THE hottest edgiest niche fragrance in Paris and is sold in Colette, so it is pretty cool to have it selling in The hansel Shop, for the edgy cool Juliette spray girls to wear pieces from hansel's Robot Girl! collection and to have met Romano in person at the launch party held at Black Market.

Romano says he wears his fedora hat all the time, even in Singapore's hot and humid weather!

The fragrances are now available in The hansel Shop, so pop by! We have testers for you to try them out!
