Tea time in Osaka.

These were photographed in the wholesale F&B supplies market in Osaka, Japan. I LOVED  the retro coffee pots in all four colours.
The snowmen tea sets are absolutely lovable and makes you smile even before you get your caffeine hit.
The plastic serving trays in the shape of a bullet train, space rocket and car make me think why aren't adult serving trays just as fun?

A wooden apple a day.

Found in Kanazawa, Japan: Absolutely ingenious, absolutely beautiful, absolutely hand-carved wooden apple-shaped toothpick holder and sugar container with a lid. The "apple stem" is actually the handle of a tiny wooden spoon. Even the toothpicks looked so organic and hand-made I didn't dare to use one and throw it away!

Nautical nostalgia.

A set of 6 white melamine cups with yellow anchors and wrapped with cellophane in a cardboard box printed with blue waves. Simple, practical, retro, slighty kitsch and packaging that completes the whole nautical theme.
Love it, love it, love it, love it.
Why didn't I buy it???  :-(

Monkey temple.

Also in Kyoto, I found this temple with the 3 monkey statures in the classic no-hear/no-see/no-talk positions. This time prayers and wishes were written on these colourful round stuffed fabric shapes. Simply beautiful!

A thousand paper cranes.

In Kyoto, I came across this small old temple with eye-catching garlands of rainbow coloured paper cranes. I was told that traditionally, these were used to pray for the good health of loved ones. One was to pray as one folded each crane. When the cranes reached 1,000 pieces, you strung them up, brought them to the temple, prayed and then hung them there, possibly as a sign to the gods of your sincerity of your prayer.

Frog skin purses.

Spotted some time back in Tokyu Hands department store in Tokyo - coin purses made from REAL frogs! Their mouths open and close so you can put coins inside their bodies. And, they've been dyed in a variety of rainbow colours. How macabre!

Tile art.

I LOVE this happy wall mural at the Changi Beach Club. The entire image is created from plain, solid coloured square tiles. I am enamored by its simplicity.

Let it all out.

Barf bag disguised as a hand puppet for some original in-flight entertainment! This one has been artfully worked into a charming yellow bird.

I love stripes.

I really do.
And I photograph them every time I see them. Bold stripes absolutely mesmerize me.

LaSalle College of the Arts Fashion School

I recently attended a crit at LaSalle's fashion school. I went through all the nervous jitters of a crit as a fashion student myself, so it was an eye-opening experience for me to be on the other side and view the students' works as a young designer with a few years of experience under my belt. There was some amazing talent and potential in the graduating class producing things I wouldn't have thought of myself! Nicholas, a fellow Singaporean fashion designer, was there to view the work too.

Childhood memorabilia.

I'm moving house very soon and while packing, I have found lots of great things from my childhood: Scratch & Sniff stickers, home-sewn stuffed fabric dog, toothbrushes for pretty teeth, and of course, cassette tapes of my idol, MADONNA!!!
