The hansel Pop Up Shop @ Stamford House 1.

It's time to tell you about hansel's first ever foray into retail!

For one month, and one month ONLY, from 26 June to 26 July, hansel will run a temporary shop at #01-04 Stamford House. The retail shop pops up and then disappears, hence its name.

Inspired by the name, hansel has enlisted the help of 5 LASALLE MA Design students who call themsleves the Musement collective to create the shop interior modeled after pop up books! The guys had to create a mini model of the shop first to work out all the details. Made entirely from cardboard, the shop will be a sight to behold.

To celebrate the opening of hansel's first ever (temporary) shop, we will be having a party this Friday 26 June 09, from 7 to 9pm. Our generous sponsors Heineken and Absolut will make sure that hansel's first ever shop opening party is a GREAT one! Come down and join us!

Last but not least, you'll need to know the opening hours.
Monday - Saturday, 11.30am to 8.30pm.
Sunday, 12pm to 6pm.

Japanese takeaway bento boxes.

Wrapping removed layer by layer to reveal 2 tiers of boxes filled with healthy goodness, styrofoam boxes made to resemble wood, 2 types of rice shaped like a bitter gourd and a flower... I am dead impressed!

Family doll portrait.

More on my friend's Japanese aunty from Kanazawa.
The family portrait was probably photographed in the 1930s. The portrait was then replicated in the form of 3D handmade fabric dolls! The detail is absolutely amazing and even shows things not visible in the photo, such as the kimono's linings. Kanazawa aunty was happy to pose for me with the doll portrait of her younger self.

The Magical Japanese Aunty.

Some time back I visited Japan and met my Japanese friend's aunty who bridged the communication divide by showing us all the magic tricks that she knew. I won't ever forget this warm and charming lady from Kanazawa.

Groovy chick in hotel signage.

Looks like some sort of pulley and strap system to get people off a building from the rooftop. What I lurve is the "victim's" groovy cloud-like perm and her random dotted shift dress.

Inflatable paper toys from Japan.

I'd like to share with you photos of these old fashioned inflatable paper toys that I had bought from Kanazawa in Japan from a gift shop out in the countryside. Up till now, I was only familiar with the multi-coloured beach ball version, but discovered that there are also wide-eyed innocent owls, puffing goldfishes, squids and cool watermelons! Here's to flat pack joys!

The hansel HQ block.

Being a stripe lover, it is very fortunate that my studio is located in an old fashioned HDB industrial block that has happy Sky Blue and Canary Yellow stripes, and even an oasis of trees inside the courtyard. Almost Shangrila. . .

LASALLE grad show.

Ants created from black beads and embroidery, wire shaped portraits, fuzzy felt food, lovely white space.
