I was cleaning out my cupboards and found some artwork that I did when I was 17 and doing the Art & Design Foundation Course at LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts, back at the old Goodman Road location.

Dog of Endearment.

Rooms trade show, Tokyo.

I arrive in Tokyo on Monday to show hansel's new Autumn/Winter 2009/2010 collection at the great Rooms trade fair held at the fantastic Yoyogi National Stadium. It is really exciting to be here in this inspiring city but it is also SO freezing cold now in Tokyo! I have to wear about 7 layers of clothing to stay warm!  

Hansel the Dog.

The Hansel Blog must start with an introduction to the dog who inspired the whole fashion label. It was my uncle who found Hansel as a stray puppy in Kranji (an industrial area in Singapore) and took him home. Hansel ended up tearing my uncle's Pomeranian to pieces so he was promptly re-homed with us. 

When I first returned to Singapore from my studies in London in 2000, I was freelancing as a fashion stylist and often worked from home, thus spending a lot of time with Hansel. I quickly grew attached to this highly affectionate little lightning bolt of energy and so when it came to naming my new fashion label, it was only natural to name it after him.
