AW12 "The Puffin" - the beginning.

As we will soon be releasing the new AW12 collection in my Mandarin Gallery shop,  I  would like to share with you some of the things that went into the making of the collection. Inspired by the Atlantic Puffin, this black-and-white seabird is super adorable ESPECIALLY when it dons its super colourful beak during mating season. *ahem*

As usual, I start with research and selecting some images to draw from. This time I ended up with four different versions of the bird. I do most of the drawing work at my home studio.

Really fun way to serve food at Nike pop up shop party.

There's fried spring rolls inside them cups. Not exactly champion's food, but hey, it went well with the beer. :)

Canon printer ad shoot.

8am and I'm up on the 25th floor of the Carlton Hotel in the Presidential Suite. The ad is shot by Chuck Reyes and will be featured on the new AUGUST WOMAN magazine. I'm donning samples from my upcoming AW12 collection. (Guess the theme of my next collection!) ;)

The Hot Seat interview recording with Mr X on 938LIVE.

Just did a recording with William Xavier aka Mr X on 938LIVE The Hot Seat! I was utterly fascinated with what goes on behind-the-scenes in the making of a radio show plus Mr X was awesome to speak with - conversation just flows with this man. Airs next Tuesday 24 July 7-8pm.

LV Yayoi Kusama pop up shop at Ngee Ann City.

I popped down to the 1-of-only-7-in-the-world pop up shops featuring the LV Yayoi Kusama range at Level 2 of Ngee Ann City this evening. A visually stunning shop concept that mixed the utterly and completely polka dot covered range with Yayoi's iconic work, this place was a photographer's (and blogger's) heaven. You should read more about the famous Yayoi's lifetime of revolutionary work here. Seeing her name alongside LV today becomes more interesting when you learn that at a point in her career, her artist friend Georgia O'Keeffe had to convince her own art dealer Edith Herbert to buy some of Yayoi's works so that Yayoi could survive the financial hardship that she was going through.

My first Mandarin speaking role on Channel 8 this Sunday!

My mother tongue is Mandarin (actually to be specific, it is Cantonese) but I am more fluent in English. Despite that, I somehow managed to roll out my lines in Mandarin for my first ever Mandarin-speaking TV show! It's showing on MediaCorp Channel 8 this Sunday 8 July at 10.30am. It would be very entertaining, I'm sure. ;)

In the show, the host Sugie Phua and I walk 12 years old Charlene Tan through the different techniques  that she could use to customize her own t-shirt. Sugie patiently coached me through some of my lines - what a lifesaver!
